Still haven't decided if I like the landscape or not---certainly different from Oklahoma or Missouri

Went to a old fort near San Antonio NM and wandered around it for half a day--
All I know those soldiers were some tough hombres--
the rock wall barracks were about 10 by 20 and supposedly housed 8 soldiers in each.
must have been like an oven in summer and a freezer in winter

I do know this-- probably the best light for photography I have had is at Bosque del Apache NWR and want to get back there before the Big Sleep

Yessir, I think we've traded pics of Bosque. As for Fort Craig, been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Like you, I'd never want to live there full-time. But, if you make it up to Cloudcroft/Lincoln NF, it is it's own little paradise. You also get to drive through a lava field between San Antonio, NM and Cloudcroft. You need to make it back out there.
