Welp, I've taken the kid 4 times now and he's missed twice. I'm starting to rethink this little charity project. If it weren't for having the kid along, I would have been tagged out and looking for mushrooms and/or crappie fishun' on my weekends.
The first miss wasn't so bad. He actuallt rolled it and it got up and flew into a barbed-wire fence. He left about half his breat feathers and his beard on the top strand. I figured we would find him on the other side. After an hour of looking under every cedar tree, brush pile and ditch, no luck. A few hours later I went back to look agian and found him on the ground about 5 feet from the woods. He was clearly hurt and without a beard. As soon as he saw us, he ran into the woods. Another 1/2 hour of searching, no luck. Coyote food I would guess...
Second bird was a clean miss at 20 yards. Has three birds, all 2 year-olds surrounding the decoys and he just couldn;t get it done.
Both were during the regular season. I could have whacked 'em and been done by now. I'm taking him one more time, next weekend. Trust me, my bead will be on any bird's head that gets close and we'll shoot at the same time (1,2,3 fire!!).
