If you don't own that rig that burns 14,000 gallons a day then you ain't too worried about the bottem line either. Hell I bet they take care of your fuel in your company truck, so who cares about gas prices too? 16mpg for a gas engine don't come close to the 20+ I get with an empty truck. I spent over $10,000.00 last year out my own pocket for just diesel fuel. You gettin close to that out of YOUR checkbook?

Dog, dog, dog......you treat the companies money as if it were your own. That is from the book "Economics 102". Well I don't own that rig but I manage my part of it and 30 others. If I could find a dependable engine that can gaurantee me a 10% fuel savings, I'd change every one of them. It's my JOB to do what I can to save us money at the end of the day. BTW.....The company does pay for my gas, it's one of the perks along with the check. As far as your out of pocket expenses......you chose your profession dude. B

When you OWN the company, all the equipment & pay all the bills.......well that pretty much makes it MY DAMN MONEY. I don't see anyone else's name on the door or accounts. I'd go into greater detail but that Business 201. Bottem line...it ain't your money....and since ya like them two strokers, you don't manage it well.
Yes I chose my profession. I get to hunt, fish, or just plain fuk off whenever I want to. I hunt and fish over 100 days a year easy. Ya it sucks to be me. Did I mention that all that fuel, food, & lodging all get wrote off. Oh yes, it sucks to go hunting and take it off your taxes. I'm leaving in 2 weeks for Alaska on yet another business trip. Sea Duck hunting in January....business of course. Ya know....PERKS of being the boss.
I'll take my fuel cost anyday for a trade off for working for myself and being able to do what I want, when I want, and for how long I choose. Now, get your ass back to work before the man finds out how much you really fuk off all day. I'm going fishing.

Hell, I get more mileage out of a good mess of chili farts than either of you get out of your fuel guzzlers.

BWAAAHAAAAHAAAA.....Geez man, I strike a nerve. Just a couple helpful hints......If you would GO to work instead of fkng off all the time, maybe you could find out why that extra $10 grand is coming out of your pocket vs. the job profit. You realy push the hunting and fishing, other guys I know use that card on me. We'll see who's laughing 20 years down the road. I may even hire you to prune my hedges, we could talk hunting.....as long as your off my clock. Thanks for the advice. BTW are we straight on the Diesel fuel now? OH YEAH.... B

You'll prolly be dead from doing all the math trying to figure out how to save a penny....by all means, save all you can so you can enjoy life when you're old.
BTW - you spend DOUBLE for fuel in your diesel vs. your old ladies rig and you drive a company truck to work?? BULLCRAP!
Try it this way numbnuts.....figure the old hag drives a rig that gets 20 mpg and your pile of junk gets 15. She pays $2.80 a gallon and you pay $3.00. You both drive 100 miles a day. At the end of the month you spent $180.00 more then her. She's in for $420 and you're in for $600.
If you want.....I'll figure it out for the 30,000 you got on your rig and the piece of crap she drives....it ain't NOWHERE near double for your raggedy ass truck that you claim it is...and keep in mind, pea brain...she ain't getting 20 and you ain't getting 15.
KEEP MAKING THAT GOOD CHEESE!!!!!!!!

Dude 20 years from now I don't plan to be working. I know I'll be laughin 20 years from now.....I'm laughin at your stupid ass right now. My Roth IRA's that have been collecting money for 15 years already should be doing quite well in another 20 years too. Keep working by all means, I'm gonna keep doing what I do. Enjoyin life while making damn good money. I'm gonna drag out a Caribou at 33 not 63 when my boys gotta wipe the drool off my chin.
Ya might not wanna wait 20 years to trim them hedges.....we don't do lawn maintenance. Never have never will. I'll ask the neighbor boy.....he does a good job on mine.
You do the math on 60,000+ miles driving a year for 2 trucks and see what kinda fuel cost ya got. Its amazing what work CAN be done 900 miles from a jobsite with a cell phone. I'd try explaining Business and Econ 102 to ya...but you still work for someone else. You won't understand.

Griffen, if you read the post it states "maintenance". As my records point out, I have made 5 oil changes @$70 and a couple fuel filters @$100 a pop in the diesel. That works out to $550. The old ladys rig has had 10 oil changes @$30 each which is $300. So over 30K miles this is what it cost me to operate both. As stated before, the mileage is close to the same. When I "run the numbers", I figure out the fuel burn per 24 hrs at rated BHP, overhaul cycle, parts and labor to rebuild said equipment, break all this down to a cost per operating hour over a 10 year period. I do this at work and about the same for my own purchases. However, I know this isn't as accurate as scribbling down some chit on a note pad at the kitchen table trying to make the #'s work for the wife so she will let me buy it. B.

Congrats on the financial stability dog. And to think I thought you were a moron. When I walk away from here in 24 more years I will have 40 years of service, paid insurance and a good pension, (hopefully). So yes I will keep workin and retire at 60, luckily I have over 5 weeks vacation to enjoy each year till then. As far as 2 trucks and the numbers, I can do that for a fee when I get time. And yes it is amazing what you can fix over a cell phone. B.

Krazy.....I now see the error of my ways. Luckily last night in the mail I recieved a sign. Ford sent me their magazine advertising low intrest rates on the Super Duty. I am going to use some of what I learned here to get to a "higher" level. First I'm going to the dealership and buy a new 1 ton and finance that baby for 7 years. I'm not worried about the cost, just buying the paymment...which comes into play later. Remember I'll have better fuel savings. Next I'll proceed straight to the local boat dealership and purchase a new flat boat with a four stroke.(fuel savings) I'll slap a 10 year note on that baby and use my fuel savings from the truck, coupled with the money saved from the lower 7 year note to pay for that. I mean I'm gonna keep the boat for 10 years, right??? Then I'll load up my gear in the boat(whatever isn't in - lay away) and head to work or gathering and get even better savings by pulling a load every where I go, and brag about how bright I am. Does this sound any better??? B.

My '96 Ford has 201,xxx miles and still gets 19mpg going to/from work (Foristell to Earth City). I have gotten as much as 23-24 going on long trips. It's got 3.55s in it so that helps.

"Hope" is not a method.
As for running out and buying that boat....sure does suck for you that you cant just pay cash instead of eatin all that interest.
So "hopefully" you can figure out how to get you a 0% loan on the boat as well.
Good luck!

Yes, by all means.....pay cash up front for everything you buy....that way you can waste the 4% interest you could make on your money with a simple CD from a bank while you pass up the chance to use THEIR money on 0% or 2% interest from the dealer.
Goddamn DosGris.....keep hoping.....you're gonna need it.

Wow, after 24 more years you are gonna retire. I'm sure your body won't be beat down and worn out by then. And to think for the next 24 years THE MAN is gonna give you 5 weeks off a years. I hope we're not supposed to be impressed griffin gets than many weeks of vacation after working 2 months.
You talkin to the wrong people if ya think we gotta sit down with the wife and convince her of what we think we need. We just buy it and ask her if she likes the color.
And for a penny pinching tightwad Douchegits....you sure do spend way too much money on your fuel filter. I found ya an OEM filter in 15 seconds for 1/2 the money. No need to thank me. B's fuel fiter I'm just trying to make your truck more affordable. I'm not a diesel mechanic, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night so the filter should work.
