I'm in the middle of a 10 day hunting trip but I just checked in to the NHL standings......hell yeah!!!....they've done it!!! Last place in the league!!  Somebody has obviously stepped up!!!

Bortz should have been the 1 star for taking on Wilson.
High octane Caps with 2 shots in the third.
This Blues team is goofy as hell and not in any good sense so far. Schizophrenia is nothing to laugh about.

Games like last night are why I have lost all respect for this bunch. To know that they have the skill and talent to play like that and watch them flounder 2/3 of the time, is maddening. While the Caps were not on their A game, they are still the Caps and still the defending Cup champs. The Blues played with pace and generally took it to the Caps, rather than play on their heels. A much needed fight was had and there was an edge to them. All without Tarasenko. Makes one at least ponder things a bit doesn't it?

Tarasenkos part in this is strange indeed. Not getting the goals and assists yet it is his best 200 foot game he has put forth.Very weird. I have to think his shoulder is still bad, that wrister has had nothing on it all year. But even his passing in the offensive zone has been bad. Weird, just like the season.

Jake Allen is the biggest disaster to hit this franchise in my memory.
It's Allen and it's the continued and absurd faith and comfort this management group continues to provide him.
Last night was the umpteenth time he did exactly as he always does.

After watching Jack Hughes in some of the Junior World's games last week, the Note ought to make every effort to tank, get the #1 pick and get that kid. He looks to be the real deal!

Did you get a chance to watch any of the World Juniors, Griff?? I really enjoyed it. No doggin it by anyone. And all of them they really played a team game and went end to end. Some pretty big upsets made it even more exciting. I wish I would have been able to see more of it. Next time I'll have one of the kids record the games for me - I can't figger out how to do it!

Nah.....I was hunting from the 27th to the 5th....and I'm not watching much hockey, period, right now. Maybe since college football is about to end I can pick up a few games, or maybe I'll just go see some local HS hockey.

Sptsman that is probably true. You can see it in all of the professional sports... It's probably why I like watching "amateur" (even though a lot of college players truly aren't) sports better.

I hate to jinx him.....but Binnington looks like he has the team believing. It's pretty obvious that he has very quick legs and great positioning, but he struggles with the high shot.....time will tell when the league figures that out. Still, anybody but Allen and I can have some hope.....he's done. Hopefully the organization realizes that. Next should be Steen and Petreangelo.....get them out.
The Blouse is actually not positioned horribly right now with at least 2 games in hand on most of the league....and as many as 4....they have played the fewest games in the league to this point.
I think they have raised their odds of getting into a wild card spot in the last couple of weeks, but this is a pretty rough road swing with 8 of the next 9 out of town. But, they are the hottest "bottom half" team in the league right now so they are on the move.....for now.
If they can get through that and be a couple of games over .500 then I'd give them a chance.....but they'll need a team or two to tank in order to really have a shot (not out of the question....Colorado and Anaheim are basically winless in their last 10.....leaving the door open).....and that's only if they can keep playing like they are in front of the kid. They haven't shown the ability to sustain anything.

Man what a year it's been.
Griff you're missing (bwaaaa) a heck of a year by our 'lil buddy DP. That dude, for all the trouble, has been worth it.
3 in a row. It's January 14 and they finally won 3 in a row.
3/4's of the guys are on board. Allen, god willing, is soon the #2.
They seem to be playing for each other. Finally.
I don't trust them yet. The Allen thing has to be dealt with once and for all and Binnington has to be the real deal.
Gimme that and let's get on with it.
