Boss said his son Beau is poppin' for another duck hunt to ReelFoot. Last year was awesome there. Didn't really expect to go back!
Private jet, high-end all-inclusive guided hunts, Southern cooking and hospitality. I'll never get comfortable doing it this way, but I suppose I could try...

Have fun, Mike !
The food alone would be worth the trip.

Well fellas, it was one of those hunting trips that didn't yield many ducks...
Reelfoot Lake water level is down 12-18" from normal. This caused the best holes last year to be real shallow. Couple that with 18F Tuesday morning and in 1" of ice covering most of the lake. So the shallow spots were locked up pretty good. About 10 am the guides broke our a pool in front of the blind. The day before in the same blind they had flat tore them up. But the wind was wrong and we only knocked a few.
Yesterday morning the ice was gone and we hunted yet another blind. The shooting was all divers at longer range and at devilish shooting angles!
Fellas, after 50+ years of hunting ducks I know this kind of thing just happens. The wind could have shifted and we could have been limited out in 20 minutes.
I will say the folks down at Reelfoot are hard-working friendly and genuine. In other words, they be some Reel people!
Merry Christmas ALL!!!
