...making the right moves or paying and giving too much? Meyers was top prospect in the minors??
I am hearing both sides of it over here, what do you west siders think....is this going to put them in contention?

Being they are in the weakest division, they could stub their toe and still be in contention...
Being that they have had the top minor league program the last 4 or 5 years and this still hasn't produced more wins at the top level because they can't produce starting pitchers, this can't hurt...they had to do something to get better starting pitching...
Being we are run by a dime store owner, nah...we will never be in contention...
And until they start winning and create an atmosphere where top free agents will consider coming here, we are just one stubbed toe from being the Cubs...

I think it was a good trade. You have to give something to get something. Sportscaster for TB said folks down there thought it was a horrible trade for TB. I think they might have a shot at the division this year. At least they tried, and got Glass to open his wallet a little more.

I was thinking ownership was throwing some cash around. Who did you guys sign some 30-40 days ago for a 3yr 24 mil contract? That one was criticized by some talking heads as being to much for too little but now I can't remember who it was. Maybe I have this wrong.
As for the weekend deal, no pitching is no way to win a division. Gotta give to get, hope it works out!

I think it was Jeffries; the guy we picked up late last year when we dumped Broxton. He pitched real well and was elgible for free agency. We also got Sanchez in another deal. I think we have the "possibility" of a real good staff this year for a fairly long time to come. This leaves Chen, Paulino, and Hochaver in a battle for a spot in the rotation. It's time for Hochaver to fish or cut bait in big, big way.
Now if the hitters can get in gear............

I guess I'm really getting senile. It was Jarremy Guthrie we signed for several years, and Ervin Santana was the other guy we picked up. We traded Jefferies, and would have liked to be in the hunt for Anabel Sanchez but no luck.
So, it's Shields, Davis, Santana, and Guthrie in the rotation and all the others fighting for a spot at this time.
Carry on...........

Good trade. We have people below Myers that may be the same caliber. Right now royals don't need a good outfielder we need pitching

They need to get that automatic out right fielder replaced. Doesn't sound like they are willing to do though. They say he has a nice smile

It would be a lot of fun to see the Roayls competitive again. I often wonder why they don't take a page from organizations like Tampa, Oakland, Arizona, etc... and invest heavily in the development side. Understanding you lose most of the stars that you develop when they get to free agancy but you can always parlay them into more draft picks and/or top tier prospects a year or two before that. There have been no shortage of all-stars that have come through KC. Why haven't they been able to make a few runs with them? You can always blame it on a cheap owner but that only holds water until you see other teams with low payrolls make the playoffs on a somewhat regular basis.
Maybe you west siders need to go to more games and increase their revenue stream...

I heard over the weekend, a guy from MLB network nonetheless, say the Royals could not only contend this year but if the rotation is right they should be there to win a playoff spot. He wasn't sold on it, just emphasized the IF.
Can't wait to see the predictions from you guys. I'm expecting sand bag city so I will have to weigh in from the east side just to keep ya'll honest.

One thing is certain about the Roy-Marts; if I bet Swampy that the Royals will win x number of games - they'll win at least 1 game less than that number. If I bet him that they will lose X number of games, they will lose at least one game less than the necessary amount for me to win.
