So Friday evening (around dusk) I setup some trotline/juglines up at Smithville Lake trying to catch a few Flatheads . Returned Saturday around same time rebaited , no big fish . Sunday arrived a little earlier and noticed strange orange tags on all my lines -- --the tags were from the MDC stating that I must remove the tags by that day or they were going confiscate my equipment----- ---that's ok---I have plenty more where they came from--

That what I was thinking , I know the rules for trotlining say " Only 33 max hooks and must be checked every 24 hrs " but the MDC didn't leave a time they checked them just a date to remove them and that date wasn't 24 hrs since I last time I checked the trot lines.-- --Also I've never had lines out for 3 days and not single fish on them , so suspect someone had been stealing the catfish on some of them . Sunday we stayed until around 4am and had removed all but a doz in a cove we were crappie fishing at. Three boats were hanging around at the back of the cove real near the shore and we were at the mouth of the cove . I'd spotlight the jugs every half hour or so to see if any fish had tipped up the jugs or were pulling them around . When I removed them most had no bait and all had no catfish ?-- --weird-- Only time I've been oranged tag and I've seen some people's lines left out for weeks and I've never seen any tags on them. Not sure what I'd do if I caught someone stealing from me , probally best to record their boat ID number on side of boat and have a witness there besides me, like I did that night. Then turned them into MDC ; or have my 30/06 with me and said witness holding spotlight on their outboard ---- --what do think 165gr soft point or 180gr silvertip--

180 gr would be better....but if you stick the gun barrel in your mouth like most of us would like you to, it won't matter much. Wierd

Its the same dealio as the parking cop in the cities around STL that put a chalk mark on your tire to see if you stay in parking areas too long with time limitations. The agent prolly helped himself to your fish.
