He's refusing to cooperate with the committee investigating stearoid use in baseball. Won't even talk to them. Also, he has distanced himself from baseball completely; he won't even go in a ballpark. Wonder if he weighs over 175 now that he doesn't need the juice? Just continues to be a real mess.

I don't blame him.
The best thing he can do for himself right now is not get wrapped up in the legal fallout that's coming....and he's obviously got an attorney who damn well knows it.
Looks like Landis is guilty....and so is Justin Gatlin, the last Olympic gold medalist in the 100 and the co-holder of the current world record.
So there you have it.......most of the top performances in high-profile sports are tainted, and who knows how long it's been going on. Hell, guys in my high school in the mid 70's tried steroids...they were a part of football for many, many years before this became such as issue...ask Lyle Alzado next time you get killed and get a chance to talk to him.
I remember the womans East German swim team come out of the blue and reek havoc on the swimming world in the 70's and 80's.....all steroid.
There is no reason, at this point, not to make two categories for records and some events. Obviously, you can't have two baseball leagues or two football leagues....but you can damn sure have track and field, swimming, cycling, and many other sports, with two categories.....users and natural. Hell, I'm game to see how far some lunatic can push his body, with drugs and training, in order to see just what the human body is capable of.
The baseball record book is a shambles.....might as well take the stigma out of it and let the guys who used declare that they did....make separate records for them and move on.
Football, weightlifting, all of the strength sports in track and field......all tainted.
It's a damn witch hunt now....and for what??? Who the hell loses if an athlete takes steroids?? Society?? How's that?? Someone explain to me how anyone is worse off then McGuire himself for his abuses??
Making ANY drug illegal is a joke in my mind. The money, time, and lives WASTED on "enforcement" is what's criminal.

Griffin, do you think that taking steroids might finally help me kill a duck??? If so, can you hook a brutha up?

It's hopeless, Brutha Tim. Nothing could help you kill a duck in Mizzou. There are no ducks in Mizzou.

My whole thing on this is what you're talkin about....athletes takin the enhancers and then takin records, titles, championships from guys who never used.......and then we all gotta sit around and listen to 'em lie about it for decades.

Who cares, honestly.
first off, it wasn't against the rules for McGwire and even Bonds in 2001. If they want to continue the witch hunt begin at the top, Selig, look in the mirror, when your precious game needed heroes to bring the fans back from the 94 debacle, home runs, that's how you wanted to retrieve fan support, so some guys took advantage of there being no rule against it and shrank their nads to increase their biceps, big freakin' deal.
Performance enhancing drugs---well sports are a performance, a modern day play performed in front of millions of fans.
Throw Gaylord Perry out of the hall before you start kicking the teeth in on steroid users.
everyone thought it was funny when Perry threw that nail file onto the infield grass in front of the umpire. He was doctoring the baseball and actually breaking a rule at the time.
it's a joke. Do I respect a guy who hit his homers without steroids more than someone who used steroids, yes, that's obvious, but then again how can you possibly know for sure.
Testing! give me a break, what a joke. Baseball players are multi-millionaires and some of them are smart enough and rich enough to avoid being caught.

Somehow or another I don't put the act of marking up a ball right in front of an umpire....which btw is an art all by itself.......on the same plane as doping yerself to hit more homeruns or come from 18th place in the TDF to win two days later.

cheating is cheating to sticklers
but in the end none of it matters, it's sports
but then someone will say the children, God save the children, they'll just do what these "role models" have done and we'll have a whole generation of small nadded men.
like that argument ever washes, hell if parents would just beat their kids a little more, what a wonderful world it would be.

but the point is, Selig and those in charge encouraged this behavior by looking the other way and now they want to govern it with an iron fist.
it's a load, not unlike the crap we are fed everyday from Washington D.C., who also want a piece of the Salem Witch Hunt action.
Big waste of time and money if you ask me.
Ain't going to change a damn thing in the world

For the sake of arguing, If you did something illegal which helped you out financially and someone asked you about it and you knew your name would be in every newspaper around the nation wouldn't you lie also?
Just a thought.

Yeah I know why they lie. Palmero may well not get in the HOF for his lie.........but then again....we all know they're lyin don't we? And then there are some who point out a lot of it went on when the steroids weren't even illegal.....but no matter cuzz apparently no one ever did 'em then either.

Look steriods ain't gonna help ya hit a round ball with a round bat. Its hand eye coordination. Sure you might hit the ball 475 feet instead of 425 feet. Late in careers is where it can play a huge part in keeping you strong enough to play.
Big Mac came into the Majors in 1986. He weighed 215 lbs. Skinny for a 6'5" man. He retired at 225 lbs. Bulkin up isn't anything new for ANY pro athelete or college athelete. You either do it and get better or get left behind. After their playing days are done, most don't look the normal form they had while playing.
McGwire hit 49 homers as a rookie and didn't play the last 2 games of the season so he could be there at the birth of his son. The dude had pretty consistant years with HR and was also prone to injuries which he proved once again at the end of his career. If roids were a big factor in Big Mac's throughout his career why didn't he use them in the 4 years he was hurt in Oakland or the last two in STL when roids were not a banned substance. The dude hit 49+ hrs 5 times in his career and his rookie season was one of them. Bonds had TWO....his 2000 and 2001 season before the steroid ban hit his ass.
Bonds production got better each year until 2001....and then fell off in HR totals. Before Bonds record year he had only hit more than 45 hrs twice in his 15 year career.
I don't blame McGwire for not talkin to baseball people. Selig is on a hunt. There is plenty of evidence against Bonds, but what stuff do they have on McGwire besides Canseco's crazy drunk, druggie ass. I'd stay out of the way until baseball gets done with there own mess.

McGwire took steroids....get your head out of your ass...I ain't saying that I care one way or another, because it's a damn kids game that men get paid for.....but he took them, and now he cries when he talks about it.
Musta been some female hormones in with the steroids.

Hey I'm not saying the dude did or didn't take roids. I could care less. Drugs have and will continue to be in sports. People will do what they can get away with. People cheat. Always have always will.............Don't you have a jaywalking ticket to write in that town.
