Remember all the anti soccer posts and threads on here??
Well STL has a team....a franchise team....that just kicked record breaking azz in their inaugural season.
And man what a cool stadium they built.
First Play off game is KC.
Good luck to the boys going forward!

Winning two in a row against KC is a tall order, especially with the first on their turf (or was I supposed to say pitch?). While it was an amazing season by any standard, this current losing streak shouldn’t be looked at as no big deal. They’ve been out played on every level for three games straight and show little sign of turning it around. They’ve been outplayed technically and tactically, as well simply out-hustled. It appears they’ve got a case of headworms and need to shake them by the start of this next game. They’ve shown resiliency all season but they have not had a “crisis” like this. Hopefully, they’ll figure it out and bring game three back here. If they can pull it off in KC, I have a good feeling they can…
Go STL!

Go STL!
What's weird is City played right into KC's hand by maintaining so much ball possession.
City wants/gets points on turnovers and set pieces and they are not a possession team but KC gave/made them that in game 1.
Totally bazaar.
City better have their winning strategy for game 2 they can't go out there and do like last time.

Sporting KC seemed to be peaking at the right time - they could not have beat a first-grade recreation league team the first month and a half of the season.
I am not a true/blue soccer fan, but my Son likes to watch it so I have been drug in, so to speak. STL tried changing it up a bit at the end and made a game out of it - and it was scary to see the momentum in their favor and an extra 12 minutes added on to the end of regulation...but it worked out okay.

I'm no expert or even big fan of this game but City made history this year only to give it all up to a very hot KC team.
KC was playing desperate sudden death soccer for the last 4 plus games while City was sitting fat and happy ending the regular season in a complete and utter funk and like we all know.....this ain't a light switch you turn off or on with a flick.
That game in KC ya'll had is what we wanted here. But you have to earn it.

Like I say - my Son gets into it so I watch it with him to share time more than anything.
I brought up the fact that it was pretty impressive in my mind that STL came into the playoffs ranked #1 in their first year. He did not discredit them at all, but said a new team coming into the league and the way the draft works, they are able to get some good players based on that.
There are some damn good athletes in the sport, I will give them that - to have the stamina to run around aimlessly for 90+ minutes at a time is impressive...and 50% of them are academy award winning actors as well
Chiefs have a bye, Nascar and baseball is over for the year, so I guess I will probably watch them and LA Fuutball Club as well.

It's the first time an expansion team did anything remotely close to what City did.
They had a bazaar game strategy (the whole year) and the players to pull it off.
KC turned it on their heads and burned them but the series was mostly determined by the momentum of one and lack thereof of the other.
