Looking at the reports from MTL and LOZ, I think I may have to put on the long-johns and hit the road. I had a few buddies fill their limits at MTL last weekend with nothing but 12"+ slabs. I have several friends that have places at LOZ and have been killing them all fall and into the winter.

Went to MTL last Wed and put 24 keepers in the livewell. Would have probably got to a limit of 30 but had to get off the water by 3:30 to be on the road by 4:00. It took us a few hours to figure them out and get a pattern but when we did it was fast and furious. Minnows at about 15' in 20'-30' of water. The bite was pretty lite most of the time. You had to be on your game...
It got into the 50's but felt a little colder when the sun hid behind the clouds. Breezy most of the day but we were able to stay on the downwind side of points and stay out of the wind for the most part. Water temps were 38 degrees.
Get out there if you can boys. It is the rare opportunity to fish some of the big lakes with very few boats and no big boats. We put in at Ray Behrens and never fished more than 2 miles from there. Try that on a warm day...
Probabaly going to hit LOZ a few times before the warm weather makes it too dangerous for a fishing boat...

Was at LOZ over the weekend and only got to fish Sat afternoon from about 2:30 - 5:30. Low 40's and raining the whole time. Fortunately, not a lot of wind. Three of us put 32 keepers in the livewell, in a little under 3 hours.
Amazing what you'll tolerate when your catching fish!!
Sunday was 10 degrees colder, no rain but cloudy and plenty of wind. Whitecaps on the main lake and big coves. Since we were fishing bigger water, we just didn't feel like fighting it.
Next weekend days in the 40's or higher, I'll be back out there. The fishing is pretty good at LOz and MTL.
