I have to admit it....I still hate fully 1/4 of that team....could be as high as 3/8...or even 7/16 on some nights. Just never will like that group.

Reading up on the series and various fan boards seems clear Blues are favored by 70% of North America fans while the experts are giving the Bruins the edge.
It's Marchand, Rask, Chara, Bergeron, Rask, Krejci.........all the marquee lights a team could want against a team with right now zero for sure HOF'ers. No one is dissing the Blues, but Boston just too good for any other ending.
Predicted 3rd in division pre and mid season. I haven't predicted a series yet. Superstitious mofo I am I will not do that now. I will however get Gomer all worked up because this has been one hell of a ride so far by players that have truly come together and worked their butts off to get here, some turning their careers upside down, and for that they deserve to be 1 of 2 still yet standing. Some puck luck for sure, but every winner has that.
Saint Louis Blues are Western Champs.
Let me say fork Boston. There is zero question as to how good they are with those names on their roster, and rightly so, and straight up it's the Blues who do indeed need to find the answers. But fork them. Fork their city, fork Backes, Marchand and hell fork them all. And fork most all the East coast press who would step on their own dicks to praise them carte blanche.
Will end by saying Boston does have the roster and skill and blah blah but it's the Blues who have the story lines. From Chief coming on board and somehow turning the team around to Binners amazing performance since January to going last to first in the league as a whole team to a home town kid scoring a game 7 dbl OT winning goal to overcoming a horrible game deciding non call and clicking off 3 in a row to get here..... None of it shows up on any stat sheet and most of it is nearly unexplicable..... and whether it is enough to carry them through one more MONSTER challenge remains to be seen but one thing I do know is no way do I count this team out to bring home the Gloria.

Back to hockey.
For the Blues to compete, these might be the big hurdles:
1)Special teams HAS to get better, the two teams are presently too far apart on this and it's the Blues who need to close the gap. This includes continuing to stay out of the box and not fall for Marchands crap.
2)Goal tending.... Binner likely has to match Rask, another tall mountain to climb.
3)Bottom six will likely need to out play their bottom 6.

I don't think you can get #1.....just not enough firepower.
I think you can get #2 and #3........let's see if it's enough.
I have been waiting for the other shoe to drop, but I think Binnington is the real deal. I think it's more likely that Rask melts down.....he's prone to it.

On #1, I'd take a great PK effort and then do best to stay out of the box and I'd be happy. Bruins are like 30%+ PP scoring there.
On #2 I did find an interesting stat......in these play offs Rask is playing near his season average in SP 5/5. He has been spectacular on the PP.
ST's play is no joke in hockey but for me it's the 5/5 play that, in a seven game series, will be the key.
I'm scratching for anything I can find to get them the Cup.
But the truth is, the Blues are going to have to upset Boston to do this thing.

And once again, the Blues really need to get the series to 2-2.
The reason is simple, same as it was for all the series, first.... the Blues take time to establish their game and second.... this team and Binner has gotten better and better as each series has progressed:
Game 5s (3 games) he has a 1.34 GAA and a 0.949 SP
Game 6s (3 games) he has a 1.33 GAA and a 0.942 SP
Game 7 (1 game) he has a 0.70 GAA and a 0.967 SP
Overall in Games 5-7 (7 games) he has a 1.22 GAA and a 0.949 SP
Blues must find a way to stay in it early on. Winning 2 of first 4 would be fantastic to improve their chances as they sit right now.

Two things.....
1. The first game against San Jose was MUCH worse than this one.
2. If that's all the Bruins got against that chit show of a game by the Blues.....then it's gonna go 7.
Still......the Blubs looked outgunned, and they aren't going to push that team around like they did Dallas and San Jose.
