Armstrong has way too much invested to NOT play Allen. Hasn't the last several years proved that?

Yes. He did it right to the end last year.

But I don't think even he can keep that charade going much longer.

Whole thing is a big matzo ball.

I have mixed feelings on this deal so until I see how much and how long for Maroon and who might go to make room I'll hold off on my excitement.

Well, Perron supposedly took less then he could have gotten just to return to St. Louis....maybe he's attractive on the trading block because of that....no....wait.....that would be a real GM move and the Blouse don't have that guy.

The problem with fans (and I am guilty of this sometimes as well) is once they get a hard-on for a player, coach or GM it is almost impossible to convince them of anything other than what they already believe. A guy like DA could put together a Cup caliber team and many in STL will have a dozen reasons how he got lucky or it wasn't his doing.

I'm not saying DA is the best GM in the NHL. I am saying that most NHL analysts and "experts" consider him to be top tier. You don't get to be on the management team for Canada World Cup and Olympic teams, if you're a schmo.

And most importantly, who are you going to get to replace him? Is there a young assistant GM out there that is the second-coming of Sam Pollock? Or should they go out and get one of the NHL GM retreads that haven't won anything either?

I'm far more concerned with Yeo right now than Armstrong...

I get it, but one thing I like about this trade is how much DP wants to play here. I'm a homer, proud of it, and now I want to see Perron get a good return for his apparent unending love for the St Louis Blues.

Something like a Cup would do. Next year, or maybe the one after.

After watching the futile PP for all of last season, or certainly the later 2/3's, I share your concern for Yeo. And how he handled Allen, still hoping that was more DA than himself. But I'll give him this year. 3rd in the division should be achievable if Allen is worth a plug nickel.

Regarding DA, he is a part of the nhl good 'ol boys club and
I would not look for very much outward criticism of him from the choir. He has produced play off teams, but little else. His strength is clearly in making good trades. His weakness is another matter, re-signing players he should not, for too much and too long.

He's a mixed bag so it all comes down to results and so far, for a city without a Cup in 51 years, he falls short.

If he wins a Cup, he will be what he deserves to be, a great GM and I'll be the first to say it.

I agree with this 100% & I find it highly amusing at how many fans think they're smarter than everyone involved with the daily business of a sports franchise and 99.999% have never even played the sport at a high level, let alone at the professional level...

I don't claim to be smarter than anyone, I just watch for entertainment and my identity isn't based on the success of the team. Just like any business, if they don't put a good product in front of me, I don't support them.

Some of y'all are going to have a heart attack over a bunch of people who don't give two forks about you..

You need to do what you like to do Haus. Brewing beer, hunting, fishing.......for some it's sports and watching/playing/following sports. I don't see a difference.

I don't think one person that knows me would identify me with/as a sport or sports fan. Other than my wife. bwaaaaaaaaa

As far as entertainment, if I like a sport, I'll watch, no matter win or lose. Prefer winning, but more prefer the sport.

The Blouse got Maroon! One year 1.75 Million. They just got quite a bit tougher up front. I like it.

Yeah. I like it too. This was a big missing element and DA got a good deal... for now anyway.

NHL network guy calling us heavy and feisty and that was before this signing. I know in the scheme of things Blues are not a fast team, but they are going to be a lot faster than last year and a guy like Maroon will compliment the heavy part that imo was overstated by the talking head.

The only questions left are Allen and how good Thomas really is and will Kyrou make the team.

How long 'til October??

I have followed Maroon quite a bit because he's an Oakville kid and I saw him in high school....he's no fun to play against....heavy on his skates and not afraid in the corners. This is a good addition for that team. Hell, I may have to quit calling them the Blouse for now. Put him and Schenn on different lines (of course) and the opposing coach has his hands full on matchups....there is no joy there for the opposition. I can give DA a solid B on this one.

Yep.

This guy is great, and while I'm not 100% with him on all of this, he knows his chit better than most "experts".

Did not make it to the Enterprise practice session but heard from more than one that Fabbri and Jbo were skating pretty dang good.

And you can now see the city skyline from inside the place? WTF?

Fabbri sidelined again....first the back now it's "lower body" but not the knee.

I want to see him succeed. I don't mind being patient. But I do think he has a tough row ahead.

So good to have Jake back.

Lordy, I'm gonna blow a gasket if we fork around with this goof all season long.

Johnson-Husso or Husso-Johnson but get this thing done.

Unless King Jake the Inconsistent gets injured we ARE going to be dealing with the Goof all season. And for that reason all the other moves made in the off season won't mean a dayum thing. It appears Blues management is married to the Goof,

I just read this article. I can't believe the writer thinks there are 10 teams with worse goaltending than the Blues. and apparently the writer doesn't think Husso will be playing. What he wrote about JA made me laugh though. I hope this talking head is as wrong as most of them are but I fear that he is not..

Roster is set. Thomas and Kyrou make the team.

There are SEVEN players starting on the front 12 who were not on the roster last season. The D is banged up too.

I suspect it might take 7-10 games to work a lot of things out before we know what we got.

Can't get a tougher opponent for the opener. Forkin Allen better have his head on right.
