Sometimes a team just has a guys number.
Like the Cardinals do Kershaw.
But don't any one tell Mattingly.
Carpenter busts out of his funk at the best of times......

hooooooeeee a tight one last night!
How bout the rookie?
Neshek back to form, Carpenter still with the cape on his back and Rosie......being Rosie.
Cards need to give Kershaw his fourth post season loss in two years if they want to stay home tonite.
One tall order.

Nothing Wong with that game! Lackey did exactly what he was brought over here to do! It's time to beat Kershaw AGAIN! I hope Miller is able to channel his energy and emotions.

Watched every minute of every game but I still can't tell you exactly how we did what we just did.
I do know I'm exhausted after watching Rosie for two nights.
4th year in a row for the NLCS. Dang that's good.

They had more runs after 9 innings, in 3 of the 4 games...
They had no business winning that series. On paper, the Dodgers are just a better team. Other than the middle of the bullpen, they are better. Glad they play on the field and not on paper...
On to San Fran. They have a little score to settle with them.

On paper in 2006 the cardinals were supposed to get beat by everyone. The only thing the experts got right on paper, was the chit they wiped they wiped their ass with

Hope the cards do well against the giants. When I was a whole lot younger, the dodgers were my favorite team; but they were the Brooklyn bums back then.

While Bumgardner clearly mesmerized the lineup we gave away all the runs he needed to bury us. Can't do that.
Thinking the veteran Priezinsky would have been a better choice than Cruz in the crucial 7th.
And I'd give Tavaras a shot tonight and move Jay up in the order.
Now I feel better.

A little late for that acquisition. I would like to see them extend Neshek into the 9th for a batter or two, when it would work (place in batting order, righty/lefty, etc...). One thing I and pretty sure of is that Matheny is going to stick with Rosenthal as his closer. For better or worse that is how he rolls...
It would appear Molina is done. I hope not but anyone that has pulled an oblique knows that it hurts to breathe heavily. I can't imagine him catching and hitting. Let's hope it is not quite as bad as it looked....

He might go back to Rosie in the ninth, but he might not.
About 6 weeks ago, when Rosenthal had his problems, he did use Neshek in the ninth a few times.
If it is Rosie, even as stubborn as MM is, it will be handled different than last night. God Willing.
And while we are 1-1, we have problems. The D has been less than stellar, allowing Frisco to score almost every run of theirs so far off the uncharacteristic mistakes.
Then there's Rosie.
And last, but no where near least, we have lost Molina. If I had my choice, he would have been the one guy to keep from injury. Not sure we are going to get by Frisco without him behind the plate and guiding the team and the pitching staff nevertheless be able to contain the KC speedsters if we advance. From a game management slant, this is a real mess for the Cards.
But hell. It's done. Time to roll and do the undoable.

Well that has to be one of the most stupid and senseless handling of the pen I've seen.
Impossible to explain all the other options that were available beyond the course that Matheney decided upon.
But maybe I'm being too hard on him. Maybe he suffered a mild stroke in the 7th when the confusion began....and then had another one, the big one, in the tenth disabling him from raising his hand to pull the guy who never should have been in the tenth to begin with.

Wow! Did the Birds over achieve to get this far or did they decide to start drinking heavily in the NLCS? Do they have a collective brain cramp? It ain't over but the Fat lady is warming up. Matheny is not managing well IMHO and the defense has been poor. The bullpen has been suspect for some time and it is showing up now.
