I like having Reaves back. He is an enforcer and brings an "edge" to this team. He is a ferocious forechecker. And while he isn't overly talented, he is talented enough that he isn't a negative while he's on the ice like some of the enforcers we've had before.

The days of the "goon" enforcers are gone, probably forever. The resident tough guys on any NHL team simply have to be able to play effectively on a 3rd or 4th line. Reaves fits the mold of what teams need. He's never going to make it to the HOF but he can play for 10+ years in this league, if his body holds up.
It has been fun to watch this team grow and mature, especially guys like Oshie. When he cam into the league, he was a one man wrecking ball. He plays so much smarter now but still has that edge. Had he continued on the path he was on, it would have been a short, injury-filled career.
Clagary tonight. The Blues chit themselves last time they played there and ended up with a shootout loss. Hopefully, they'll put their foot on the Flames throat and not let up. They play Vancouver tomorrow night and the Canucks are playing as poorly as anyone, in recent games. That game has the potential for trouble. A tired Blues team and a hungry team trying to break a losing streak. If we can get 3 points out of the possible 4 that would be good.
Go Blue!!

And the Hawk's lost AGAIN! 2 points back with FOUR games in hand!
What is the total of Blues players who are playing for their national team in the Olympics now?

Just got done watching the Blues and Galgary......this is the best Blues team ever, no matter how the season ends up.
If you don't think so there are only 2 possibilities....either you haven't watched the Blues for 46 years like I have, or you are retarded.

Pretty dominating performance last night..
Three games in hand on both the Ducks and the Hawks. Tied with 67 points with the Hawks and only 4 behind the Ducks. Lot of season left... but they are looking solid.

I have no idea what the Blues' record is on for second games on the back-to-back night games but I'm betting it is under .500. You could see this loss coming... Vancouver was hungry and the Blues were tired. Not a good formula for success...
No they're off until Phoenix on Tuesday. This will be a good test against one of those pesky Pacific Div teams that give them so much trouble.

On another note... I am at a Missouri Mavericks game tonight and had to laugh out loud. There is a dude here in a blue "CHIEFS" jersey with "HANSON" on the back. Considering the level of hockey here is is some funny Shiite!

I might of well have been watching Blaine Gabbert throw up 3 pointers in a curling league at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Good win last night. This was the type of game that the Blues probably would have lost in years past. They were definitely not on there "A" game but still managed a win. IMHO Polak played well after being out for 10 games and is another physical presence on the ice that the Blues need.

Agreed, good win for not bringing their "A" game.
That flu bug or virus or whatever is chopping them down, one-by-one, must be a biatch. Several of them have been ill with it and it has knocked them out for days and seems to take a few weeks to get back up to speed.
Kings back in town tomorrow night. They have Quick back and we may be without Sobotka. It will not be a 5-0 game. I think we'll see what a difference good goaltending makes and just how important Sobotka is to this team. He all but shut down their top line last time. I think the Blues had better tighten their pads a little for this game. It has all the makings of a much closer match this time... I also look for LA to be much more physical. Reaves will have to start earning some of that new contract money...
Blues 3 LA 2
I hope ...

The Blues are a physical team but in context of playoff hockey they are not one of the top physical teams in the league like the Kings are. They just don't have the size. We have one of the smallest D's of all the top teams.
Our gig is to manage the puck down ice as quick as possible. We need to hit the Kings and play them hard sure but stay focused on getting the puck into the offensive zone and keeping it there and winning the game.

Not a great showing by the boyz last night. Even more evidence that Elliott belongs between the pipes. Can't say Halak lost that game by himself but he did his best to make sure they weren't coming back from a goal down...
What a contrast between a top tier, Cup-winning goalie, in Quick and what were hoping could be ... Halak. If Elliott doesn't see this opening and seize it, we may be screwed in the playoffs. That game had the feel of a playoff game and the Blues played, well, like they have in the last two playoffs. Lots of cycling around the boards and little action in the passing lanes and in front of the net.
They have a few months to figure it out. I trust Hitch will get them on track. If only they had a good Captain to lead them in games like this....

Andy...there is NOTHING to figure out. This team is in the top 5 inthe league in every meaningful statistic. The difference in the gtame last night was Quick....period. The Blues played good enough to win, and given that same game on another night they would. LA has a good team.....the Blues are a good team. Sometimes you win 5-0, sometimes you lose 4-1.
As for your point about Elliot.....uh....there's not much more he can do. Why Hitchcock continues to throw Halak in there is lost on me. It's pretty clear who the #1 goalie should be.
