I've burned through my stash of store bought and reloaded handgun ammo. I need to get the bench set up again and get to it after a lapse of several years. Got a buddy who shoots the same calibers I do and wants to go together on a progressive. We will be loading .38, 9mm, .40, .44, .45, .223, .30-06 and .308. It looks like Dillon and Hornady make presses that will do the job....won't even consider a Lee.
Any of you negroes got experience with the Dillons and Hornadys?
Also, looking for a close by source for once fired handgun brass. Anyone got suggestions? I see the DoD is the source of a lot of once fired brass, do the 9mm cases have a primer pocket issue that would make them a pain in the ass to reload? I'm willing to go cheap on the handgun brass as we will likely loose half of it at the range. Rifle brass in .223 or .308 is a biatch to get now so I can wait until things settle down for that.

Will likely use RCBS for single stage work on rifle loads, but the progressives look like the route to take for plinking loads for the pistollios. Back in the day before I worked so damn many hours, the single stage presses were a nice way to relax and take it slow. These days, it's tough to find time to shoot much less reload.

We had a Dillon at work many years ago for loading our .40 practice loads. Don't remember what model it was, but it would crank out the rounds.
I still do all my loading with an RCBS Rock Chucker single stage. Are you and your buddy gonna be shooting that much of the pistol stuff to justify the progressive? Don't get me wrong, if I could afford it, I'd like to have one too, but it's not a necessity.

Justify the cost?? dude - this is gun chit....since when do we justify anything doing with gun chit. Just try to apply logic to buying gun chit....you start with I really don't need this new reloader...and I really didn't need that handgun...then you think I really didn't need that BB gun as a kid....then you think I really didn't want to hurt Momma when I was birthed and the next forking thing you know you are curled in the fetal position on a shrinks couch wasted on prozac and sucking your thumb. No man....don't go there and try to justify gun chit.....it's a bad trip

Sorry, I just stepped out of my mind for a while there. I'd been out til after 0300 this morning doing the whack-a-doe thing and was going on about 2 hours sleep.

there are some Dillon haters out there....been reading up on Hornady's and seeing good things (yes, I know it's the internet and salesmen plant most of the good reviews out on sites like Midway), money is starting to burn a hole in pocket. Now the trick is to find somebody who has the press, parts and pieces.

speaking of planting chit.....have you noticed the trend in gun rags that there will be a glowing review of this or that followed by a full page colored ad for the product? So much for objective journalizum.

Hornady LNL AP have a 1000 bullet free deal....that's like $200....plus my dealer can get one for about $350 taking my actual cost down to like under $28,000....I've always been a little weak with the math

I have been using a Hornady Projector for some time and it does a great job. Pretty close to the newer LNL AP I think. Enjoy
