Just got back from New Mexico hunting elk. Wacked this big bastard at 350 yards after 3 days of hunting. Saw tons of elk daily and passed on well over 150 plus bulls before this one met his match. Great eats ahead at duck camp. I see Chicken Fried Elk in our future.

Very nice, Jeff. I always dreamed of shooting something that big.

Oh, regarding other forums. I spend most of my online time reading some of the AR15.com forums.
Mostly in the General forums; https://www.ar15.com/forums/general/
....but occasionally in the Outdoors forums. https://www.ar15.com/forums/outdoors/

That's a dandy. Congrats! Very neat national forest they have up there. The 40-50 degree temp variance is refreshing as well. My work took me out there a lot. I'd spend almost every weekend exploring places.

New Mexico is one of those places I like to visit.....but not sure I would want to live there
Still haven't decided if I like the landscape or not---certainly different from Oklahoma or Missouri
Went to a old fort near San Antonio NM and wandered around it for half a day-- All I know those soldiers were some tough hombres-- the rock wall barracks were about 10 by 20 and supposedly housed 8 soldiers in each. must have been like an oven in summer and a freezer in winter
I do know this-- probably the best light for photography I have had is at Bosque del Apache NWR and want to get back there before the Big Sleep

Yessir, I think we've traded pics of Bosque. As for Fort Craig, been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Like you, I'd never want to live there full-time. But, if you make it up to Cloudcroft/Lincoln NF, it is it's own little paradise. You also get to drive through a lava field between San Antonio, NM and Cloudcroft. You need to make it back out there.
