Did a little extra feeding on the ground around the feeders Saturday/Sunday and it looks like something from a National Geographic special. I must have 75 birds eating there. And 25+ cardinals at any given time. The star of the show is a brown thrasher, tearing up the ground under the crab apple tree, looking for insects I guess. He doesn't seem to interested in the bird food. But he sure can get through the snow and dirt with that big bill and make a forkin' mess. Out of town for 3-4 days. I suspect everything will be depleted when I get back. Pretty sure the wife isn't going out there to feed 'em... I'm hoping this is the last cold snap. The last trip for bird foods was $50+. Not sure I get that much enjoyment out of them... |
