Well they say baseball is a game of stats. Kinda like all the new guys love to base a players worth on the WAR. Dude was 6.4 on the WAR last year. Great. He hit .280 with 13 HR's. Perhaps the rest of the people at his position suck. Plus when guys like Roger Hornsby hits .401, and leads in every offensive category, except triples & steals...and only has a WAR of 10.0 in that year....that tells me all I need to know about the WAR stat. When you lead the NL in hits, runs, doubles, average, HR's, RBIs, slugging, OBP, OPS, TB's, you win the Triple Crown and your WAR is just 10.0

WAR. A fancy made up stat to help the players get more money from their teams on the open market, and for fantasy baseball douchebags. A guy can hit or he can't, I don't care what his WAR is.
