Independence MO Police officer killed in hunting accident
      #241063 - 11/21/13 08:31 AM

Don't know if everyone has heard about this tragic, freak accident. He leaves behind a young family.

Jim was a mainstay on the Missouri Whitetails website. He was actually the first member to sign up there. He signed up, volunteered for military service and kept in touch as he could during his years in the service. Became a LEO and apparently was a good one. I never met him in person but have been told by all that he was a real good dude. He volunteered several times to be a guide for youth hunters. Since we was not killed in the line of duty his family is limited in what they will receive. We are setting up several on-line auctions on Missouri Whitetails to raise funds for his memorial fund. If you want to send a donation directly to the fund that is set up here is the info:
Donations can be sent to:
James Lockard Memorial
c/o Code One Credit Union
PO Box 270020
"HomeofToto" City, Mo. 64127

Thanks for your consideration.
Tim

That's a real shame Tim. My prayers for the family.

My Dad always told me the woods becomes a hazardous place when high winds kick up. Dead trees that have been propped up for years come crashing down when the wind howls.

The incident was considered a freak accident. It can happen a lot more often than you think...

Very sad. Prayers for his soul and for the family...

I just went over there to see who it was. I know some of those guys. It was Jimbow. Didn't know him but very familiar with him from the board...

Yeah he was definitely one of the good guys. We are still getting auction items coming in. I am trying to ride herd on it. My goal is to raise a minimum of $2,500.

Damn....bad news for sure. I remember Jimbow from when those guys frequented the café back in the day.

I don't go in the woods when there are 30-40 mph winds....never have.

Man, this is too weird.

As I told Iffid today, I decided to sleep in Sun. morning. I told the dudes ( old men and boys ) to take a good look to the West of their stands, and pay attention.

Some were going to to pop up blinds, some to tree stands. I was content to pet the camp dog and drink my coffee.

chit crashed down all over the area. They were nothing short of lucky.

I ain't ever wanted a deer that badly.

I heard today that J had shot a 170 class whitetail and they went back to get the atv's to haul it out.
