USAF pilot helped clear the fog of war. Greg Harbin & the Rover
      #116110 - 09/16/07 03:09 PM

This is huge. The hard part of being a controller on the ground is you can't see what the pilot is seeing and vice versa when directing CAS (Close Air Support). Talking a pilot on to a target takes time, lots of training and wastes ordnance since many times the pilot has to walk their bombs in to the target. The Rover allows a controller to call in close air support even closer to the ground unit it trouble. The old "Danger Close" was 2000 meters, now it's just a mere 75 meters. The new "John Madden" version of the Rover will be even better.

Bonus video of more dead mooslams too.

I dunno about all the high technology stuff we're using in Iraq. It's good it gives our guys the upper hand, but it sure is costly and someone's making millions (billions?) off this war.

I read that we killed our first two terrorists over there the other day by dropping a bomb on them from an unmanned drone. Then the article told how many hundreds of those drones we've got and how many millions they cost apiece.

Seems to me, the enemy can kill one of our guys for the cost of a rifle bullet or with some free explosives from Iran. To kill one of them, we've got to spend millions.

It'd be a lot more cost effective to hire the Mafia to kill Iraqi terrorists for us. Fifty grand each, and bring us the scalps. But that won't work - it'd take the profit out of this deal, which is the whole point.

It's a good thing the government isn't in the bug exterminating business. They'd contract out for some super space-age, laser-guided, satellite-controlled gadgets and the cost to kill each cockroach would be mighty high.

Think force multiplier Ozark.

Little Haji and his friends are playing in the mud over there like all young kids do and the Rover launches a Hellfire missle that scatters his older brother and friends all over the landscape. Since the kid still has mush for brains and is VERY impressionable it imprints on his gourd.

Next time the bad guys come round to recruit little Haji he remembers spatuling his old brother off the roof and takes a pass.

So, when you're adding up the costs of blowing up bad guys you have to factor in the psychological bennies too. As one buddy in the sandbox says, the big bangs have a real calming effect with the natives over there.

Unfortunately little Haji wants jihad for the death of his brother. We have to make sure we have a Hellfire left for him.
The fact that this war isn't fought for the likes of Adolph or Tojo, but for Allah who is unreachable, we have to eliminate all those who believe he wants jihad.
