Everybody's gone - it got boring.

There's nobody left but Jaeger with his Ward Cleaver cut-and-pastes, you and H.B. biotch-slapping each other about Smoky the Bear, and me getting treated like a red-headed stepchild.

We need Tree'd back, though I think Tree'd was just griffin screwing around.

Ya want me to set Jaeger and Hellbender off for you - just to stir things up a bit? Lemme know.

As you wish.

Jaeger, Hellbender - There's a distinction between the brave and heroic soldiers who fight wars and the old men who cause wars and make money from them.

The soldiers are victims of their own youth and bravery, and the fact that they can be easily manipulated to believe the bullchit. The flag follows the dollar, and the soldiers follow the flag.

Here's a favorite song. The lyrics tell an awful lot about war and how much those soldiers' sacrifices really mean in the long run after the war's been fought and the money's been made.

The Aussies invaded Turkey once. The U.S. invaded Iraq. Years later, it doesn't make a bit of difference - except to the families who had young people hurt or killed and the rich men who made a whole bunch of money.

And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda

When I was a young man I carried my pack
And I lived the free life of a rover
From the Murray's green basin to the dusty outback
I waltzed my Matilda all over
Then in nineteen fifteen my country said Son
It's time to stop rambling 'cause there's work to be done
So they gave me a tin hat and they gave me a gun
And they sent me away to the war.
And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As we sailed away from the quay
And amid all the tears, flag-waving, and cheers
We sailed off to Gallipoli

How well I remember that terrible day
How our blood stained the sand and the water
And how in that hell that they called Suvla Bay
We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter
Johnny Turk he was ready, he primed himself well
He rained us with bullets, he showered us with shells
And in five minutes flat we were all blown to hell
Nearly blew us back home to Australia
But the band played Waltzing Matilda
As we stopped to bury our slain
We buried ours and the Turks buried theirs
Then we started all over again

Those who were living just tried to survive
In a mad world of blood, death, and fire
And for ten weary weeks I kept myself alive
While around me the corpses piled higher
Then a big Turkish shell knocked me arse over head
And when I awoke in my hospital bed
And saw what it had done, I wished I was dead
Never knew there were worse things than dying
For no more I'll go waltzing Matilda
All around the green bush far and near
For to hump tent and pegs, a man needs two legs
No more waltzing Matilda for me

They collected the cripples, the wounded, the maimed
And they shipped us back home to Australia
The armless, the legless, the blind, the insane
Those proud wounded heroes of Suvla
And as our ship pulled into Circular Key
I looked at the place where my legs used to be
I thanked Christ there was no one there waiting for me
To grieve and to mourn and to pity.
And the band played Waltzing Matilda
As they carried us down the gangway
But nobody cheered, they just stood there and stared
And turned all their faces away

So now every April I sit on my porch
And I watch the parade pass before me
And I see my old comrades, how proudly they march
Renewing their dreams of past glory
I see the old men, all tired, stiff, and sore
The weary old heroes of a forgotten war
And the young people ask, "What are they marching for?"
And I ask myself the same question
And the band plays Waltzing Matilda
And the old men still answer the call
But year after year the numbers get fewer
Some day no one will march there at all

Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me
And their ghosts may be heard as they march by the Billabong
Who'll come-a-waltzing Matilda with me?

Happy now Mr Exxon, and you sweet cheeks?

Really Maw I don't think what Craig did registers as being nearly as bad as the other shenanigans going on in Washington. There are a bunch of pols from both sides doing much worse. I could promise you that if a democrat got caught doing the ditty in the bathroom, I would give it about 30 seconds of laughter at the sheer stupidity and then I would carry on with my day.

This thread has been boring for years. Hard to defend a coke snorten, frat boy who woke up after an alcholic binge and found out he was president. I'm ready for the white house wedding, I figure his drugie daughter will at least look good in her dress. I wonder if she's wearing white????????

HB you suffer from the world worse case of failed reading comprehension, I don't want the gubment to make me safer, I want to gubment to get out of the damn way so I can make myself safer, but you haven't ever comprehended that before, so why would you now?

H.B. - I don't feel a bit bad about not having served in the military. I was 21 in 1967, so if I'd served it probably would have been in Vietnam.

Our government pissed away all the bravery, sacrifices, and suffering of the Americans who fought in Vietnam. In the end it was all for nothing, and it would have been better if we'd never sent one soldier over there. So, if I'd gone, now I'd just be one more victim of government stupidity - and maybe a crippled or dead victim.

On the other hand, I carried a gun for government for 20 years. I don't compare that to combat, not at all - but I helped some people and I saved some lives. I've been shot at and I did some shooting, too.

And I bet that's something that 95% of military veterans can't honestly say.

yes, noticing your 3000+ post makes me think of two things, 3000+ is the number of lives your coke snorten frat boy has forsaken in defending his daddy's mistake, and you need to get a life dude. You should hang out in airport bathrooms and make some new friends.

I have 2 stars, but I don't drive a Honda truck either.

Seasons practicing, trying to stay in the past as he sees it, cause if Hillary runs its gonna take a lot of splaining to get around her skeletons.

Simply answering your post Ozark.

Liberty, the gubment is out of the way, and if you want to brag about living in the trees thats your business, just keep your bags packed and quit whining for the gubment to sell our land so yours can have trees.

You're a clown Lib, that makes about as much sense as pissin' on Mike Tyson's shoe.

You have the mentality of the three blind men describing an elephant. You move to an area that has a history of forest fires, you then move into the trees and one morning discover that those are the same trees that burn in in a forest fire. Then you realize that you are now an authority on forest fires and after a couple of years have this knowledge that tells you fires burn hotter, no one has noticed that there are fires, you decide that we can cure the problem by letting private industry buy the land cheap and cut all the trees down.
You overlooked the fact that you could be safe by just cutting the trees that surround your bed, that Eastern Oregon had bigger fires than where you live, and that living there and working around the industry probably gave me more information then you've gotten in the few years you've been there.
Now STFU and go buy a chainsaw and cut those damn trees down.
Oh and to your ramblings about me selling land, you really are delirious at times.

HB, I have lived through the largest two forest fire seasons in the nation's history, not only was last year a record breaker and this year has surpassed that, these years are unprecedented, and why? Because of the mismanagement of federal forests over several decades. You want to continue allowing the federal government to spend on average $50 million per large fire, where they set up sprinklers around people's home and wait for the damn thing to come onto my land, rather than to have them take care of their own land and thin out these overly thick forests that are overly thick because they used to suppress fires immediately.

yeah, I know it is an area that historically has forest fires and I know forests need fires, but these are crazy ass firestorms caused by our forking up the forests in the first place.

we can thin the forests and the slash, has energy value, you're too old to realize that and you never lived through the record fire years as I have. And you never had a job that put you in the middle of the damn things as they were going on.

But then again trying to have an argument with a man who defends the government on every turn and turns around and calls me a liberal is really a pretty stupid deal on my part. If you ain't got sense enough to know your argument is full of chit, why bother educating your ass.

And by the way, the fires are burning hotter nowadays, because they have more fuel in the forests nowadays, but we've gone over this before and you fail to learn. What was the highest grade you made in school?

You guys are back onto forest fires, huh?

Back when our kids were still at home, we took a driving vacation. We stayed with some friends in Medford, OR, fished the Rogue River, saw Crater Lake, and headed west toward the ocean.

Whatever highway we were on ran parallel to a river, and the river was choked with logs they were floating down to the ocean. I thought that was kinda neat to see.

When we got to the ocean at Coos Bay, there were several Japanese freighters loaded up with those logs. I thought it was strange how they were loading those ships, logs were stacked so high on the decks the ships looked top-heavy. They were clear above the bridge - I dunno how they could see.

We had lunch in Coos Bay, and I asked someone how they could make it across the ocean with cargo stacked so high. They said those ships weren't going far - the Japs had an enormous floating sawmill a few miles offshore, whatever distance put it legally in international waters. That way, they didn't have to pay American wages or taxes or observe any environmental laws.

Those folks said the shoreline all along there was choked with washed-up bark and sawdust because the Japs just dumped the stuff in the ocean. I guess that's not much of a "pollutant", but that don't seem right - and it'd piss me off if I was in a boat trying to fish around there.

From the floating sawmill, the boards got loaded on other ships and went on to Japan. I guess that's why I paid $3.29 apiece for 2"x4" studs last time, and I used to buy 'em for 99 cents.

Ya know, if that's what happens to American trees - I'd just as soon all them sumsabitches burn up in forest fires first.

boy HB wow, you're quite the investigator, let's see the last time you failed to engage my argument you made a similar stupid reply and said something to the effect that I was always here posting yet you failed to put in the times on the day I said I was gone all day, had you done that you would have noticed I hadn't posted, now you throw up your horsechit about my posting today when I wasn't off on a forest fire story and you think you've uncovered the holy grail, dude, you're an idiot

you can't argue with me on a point by point basis, so instead you dream up some fantasy that I sit around somewhere all day and make this chit up.

I know when you lived in the west they still pulled carts with oxen, but we've got vehicles now and the Honda gets around.
